The face plate of the switch is rather larger than that of the original, so I had to cut a little of one of the corners off in order to install it. Also, I do not like the fact that, unlike on the original, the screw holes of the replacement are not recessed, so the screw heads are proud of the plate. I worked around this by cutting the sides off the original switch cover plate and putting them over the replacement plate. This necessitated using longer screws, but they are now recessed. Not particularly pretty, but it works. Otherwise, the replacement switch is fine. Installing it was easy (I made sure I'd labelled the leads first, to ensure correct connections!) and my drill press is working perfectly again, and safely. Probably worrying unnecessarily, but the slight niggle of protruding screw heads possibly coming into contact with a live lead in the event of something going wrong inside the switch, no matter how remote the possibility, led me to ensure they are recessed. I'm probably paranoid! But also slightly puzzled as to why the manufacturers of the replacement switch didn't provide for the screws to be recessed ('counter-sunk') in the first place. This niggle aside, I'm very happy with the product, and frankly amazed that I could get a replacement switch at all for a tool I have been using for at least 20 years! So hats off to Solent Tools!
